TT: I've been fairly vocal on the interweb about my opinion on the GTX 400 series. To be honest, though, over the last week or two I've been a complete mess full of all different emotions. Video cards are my job and I love them (most of the time!). For this reason I'm fairly passionate about releases. My frustration with NVIDIA lately has been immense due to big delays and horrible allocation on samples, but I know once I get the GTX 470 and hopefully GTX 480 in my hands, love it or hate it, I'll be excited. I'm not sure if I should say we all expected the GTX 400 series to launch in October / November last year, but I can at least say we had hoped. It didn't, though, nor did it launch in December, January or February; it's March now and the launch date is set. The HD 5870 and HD 5970 are different cards to the ones we looked at in September and November of last year. With a number of driver updates the performance has increased and if NVIDIA worked on beating the numbers these models launched at, they could well be in trouble. « more... »

AT: When you pull a gas mask over your head in Metro 2033, you adjust a dial on your watch to let you know how many minutes of breathable air you have left before you asphyxiate. Your flashlight has a charger that you have to manually pump to make sure you can see where you're going. Every bullet you find can be used as currency, but you're also operating in an incredibly hostile environment. Every round you fire limits your ability to buy what you need. In other words, you are going to have to try very hard to survive, and the game reminds you constantly of how brutal and desperate your existence is. The game takes place in Moscow, after the bombs drop. « more... »
TC: Just over a month from now AMD will introduce its own desktop-oriented hexa-core processors (codename) Thuban, the first release wave being set to include four chips - the Phenom II X6 1035T, 1055T (in 95W and 125W TDP versions), and the 1075T. The upcoming CPUs have been pretty much confirmed to have 9MB of cache and an integrated DDR3 memory controller, and to be manufactured on 45nm technology but their frequencies have not been revealed, until today. Courtesy of a couple BIOS updates released by Gigabyte (and leaked CPU support lists), we now know that the X6 1035T will have its six cores set to 2600 MHz / 2.6 GHz... « more... »

NH: Kingston looks like the first memory manufacturer to deliver a 2400MHz memory kit with Intel's XMP profiles. This makes Kingston's dual-channel KHX2400C9D3T1K2/4GX the fastest DDR3 kit on the planet, which is crowned by a certification from Intel. The 2GB memory modules will operate at 2400MHz with 9-11-9-27-2 timings, at 1.65V operating voltage. Kingston hasn't priced the lovelies yet, but with Intel's LGA1156 platform there are few memory modules that can match this kit in raw frequency, which should present them with a pretty hefty price tag when they appear in stores in Q2. "As with all Kingston memory, the 2400MHz kit was created with the highest..." « more... »
